Birdwatching is both relaxing and exciting. It's an excellent complement to the dances that follow, taking advantage of the festival grounds' beautiful natural setting.
Ortiga Beach is located in the central region, on the banks of the Tagus River, surrounded by pine forests, olive groves, Mediterranean scrubland, and riparian forests. The conditions are ripe for observing a wide variety of birds, especially passerines, but who knows, perhaps majestic and imposing birds of prey will pass by, such as the griffon vultures, which easily travel the 30 km distance from Portas do Ródão?
Ricardo Silva has over 25 years of experience in birdwatching and nature conservation as an ornithologist. Join him on this 2-hour adventure and start your Sunday in good spirits!
Meeting point: Largo da Praia Fluvial de Ortiga - Palco Tejo
Conditions: Comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather conditions are recommended. Binoculars will be provided (but if you have them, please bring your own), a telescope, and a field guide.
Registration is limited: by email in advance to info@dancarem.pt or at the Festival Secretariat.
